Who We Support

The following charities and other Eastern Kentucky organizations received donations from the Highlands Foundation last year. These are just a few of the donations we have made in our communities.

Your Foundation continues to support food banks in the communities that were devastated by this past summers’ record flooding. 

We support more than 10 Golf course fundraisers for many events in Eastern Kentucky, Including the East Kentucky DREAM Center – a nonprofit that works with children and adults to help them have equal opportunities for food, clothing and other basic life skills.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library Provides all children a book every month, based on their age.  The program starts at age 1 and continued until their 5th Birthday.  Early childhood development is so important and the Foundation is committed to continuing to support this program.

This summer Easter Kentucky had record flooding that caused major damage in the area.  The American Red Cross is a non-profit humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education in the United States. Your Foundation donated $105,000 to the Eastern Kentucky Chapter Red Cross disaster relief fund to help with our summer flooding.

The Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center provides important services to all individuals in our area.  Our two grants totaling $400,000 were used to purchase designated medical equipment this past year.

This gem of a college is nestled in the Pippa Passes Community of Eastern Kentucky.  Highlands Foundation donated $100,000 to endow a health science scholarship to help The Alice Lloyd College continue with their mantra:
